If one were to give the Democrat propaganda media credit for accuracy and honesty, one would believe the economic sky was falling. By their lights, we’re in worse economic shape than we were during the Great Depression. Nothing is affordable, and there are no jobs, which is apparently why it’s vital to keep every illegal immigrant in America and to import tens of millions more. They’ll do the non-existent jobs Americans, who have no jobs, won’t do.

Economists and other “experts” routinely predict economic gloom and doom, yet time and time again, the facts contradict them. At Powerline, Bill Glahn comments:
John noted the blowout jobs report issued yesterday. Payroll jobs up 162,000, exceeding expectations. Numbers for June and July were revised upward. The small loss for July originally announced turned out to be an actual gain. The unemployment rate remains unchanged at 4.1 percent.
If you go back for 25 years, you end up with an average unemployment rate of 5.7 percent. Since this is an election year, and Republicans are in charge, Democrats and the legacy media, but I repeat myself, insist that the economy is worse than the darkest days of the Great Depression, with Dust-Bowl weather and plagues of locusts.
Glahn is referring to this Bureau of Labor Statistics report, which is nothing but good news. Some sources are admitting the numbers are better than expected: www.bls.gov/news.release/empsit.nr0.htm
Total nonfarm payroll employment increased by 162,000 in August, and the unemployment rate was unchanged at 4.1 percent, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Employment increased in food services and drinking places and in local government education. The information industry lost jobs.
This news release presents statistics from two monthly surveys. The household survey measures labor force status, including unemployment, by demographic characteristics. The establishment survey measures nonfarm employment, hours, and earnings by industry.

One of Biden’s Handlers’ primary economic tricks was to claim massive increases in employment by citing the huge increase in federal government hiring. This is good news:
The unemployment rate was unchanged at 4.1 percent in August, and the number of unemployed people changed little at 7.0 million. Both measures changed little over the year. (See table A-1.)

And so is this:

And despite claims that nothing is affordable, wages keep increasing:
In August, average hourly earnings for all employees on private nonfarm payrolls rose by 10 cents, or 0.3 percent, to $37.75. Over the year, average hourly earnings have increased by 3.1 percent. In August, average hourly earnings of private-sector production and nonsupervisory employees rose by 11 cents, or 0.3 percent, to $32.53. (See tables B-3 and B-8.)
Glahn closes by reporting that the report notes that we’re down 5000 federal government employees last month, which is about a quarter million fewer than this time a year ago. That amounts to about 340,000 total, which is down about 11% from Biden’s peak. We still have around 3 million federal employees, which does not count our military. Glahn ends with this evergreen reminder from the Declaration of Independence:
He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harrass our people, and eat out their substance.
It has ever been so. Bureaucracies accomplish nothing so efficiently as growing and perpetuating themselves. It’s a Herculean task, but President Trump has excelled at paring those bureaucracies down, and apparently, at telling the truth about the economy. It’s a welcome change.
