Over the years, many synagogues have embraced the term social justice. Against the backdrop of the Pride flag, “the Hineinu (formerly DEI) committee of one temple strives to educate as well as promote the representation and participation of different groups of individuals, including people of different ages, races, marital status, ethnicities, abilities, genders, religions, cultures, and sexual orientations, in order to enhance a feeling of belonging.”

Since 1978, the flag has been amended a number of times. In general, the stripes refer to different designations. In particular,

Black/Brown=People of Color

White/Blue/Pink=Trans Community

(Source) “Flag—A Wider Bridge which is the North American organization working through education, advocacy, relationship-building and grantmaking to create equality in Israel [emphasis mine] by expanding LGBTQ inclusion and equality, and by cultivating constructive engagement with Israel.”

Analyzing the various flag colors should give one pause.

The panoply of pride flags and their inclusion in temples stresses sexual categories and gives inordinate attention on sexual identity, i.e., asexual; intersex-inclusive; pansexual; bisexual; trans-inclusive gay men’s pride; genderfluid; genderqueer.

Ultimately, the Pride flag becomes suspect when it restricts itself to people of color while relegating white to the trans community. Moreover, the Lesbian Pride Flag is meant to represent “independence from men.”

What then is one actually pledging allegiance to with the DEI Pride Flag? See here, here, and here. How is Leftist infiltration affecting Jewish life in many houses of worship?

Why are synagogues so hell-bent on the emphasis on sex when dangerous left-wing and Islamic antisemitism continue to increase exponentially?

Moreover, for the left, the nuclear family is seen as an inherently repressive system. One is told that:

  • “Rather than listing ‘mother’ and “father,” write ‘parent/guardian 1’ and ‘parent/guardian 2.’
  • Moreover, “think creatively for how a transgender or non-binary member can have a safe bathroom space” (within the synagogue).
  • Or “feminism that is informed by transgender dignity is… recognizing that the rigid binary gender system oppresses everyone.”
  • Or “how to get someone’s new name and/or pronouns right [.]”
  • Allow members to fill in how they want to be identified outside of the gender binary.

Actual social justice in Judaism is rooted in biblical commands and calls for righteousness, but the left, under cover of alleged sympathy, is demanding something that is much more insidious. It creates a persistent feeling that something is not quite what it seems.

Are temple members being mesmerized by radical left-wing ideology without realizing the ulterior motives behind it? Substituting the beauty of Jewish values for the far-left ideology represented, in part, by a Pride flag is suicidal compassion.

And what of those congregants who speak out with concern against the genital mutilation inherent in transgenderism? Will they be labeled as bigots?

Will gender dysphoria distress be ignored in order to promote the left-wing agenda?

May one even ask “what is a woman?

Also, what accounts for this sudden shift in transgender identification in the first place? It is particularly seen in young white adults. Will that question also become taboo?

Pierre Rehov writes that “[d]iversity, equity, inclusion, anti-racism, and transgender affirmation have replaced the older revolutionary vocabulary[.] Certain opinions are no longer treated as debatable; they are treated as evidence of bigotry or harm.”

Consider the following:

What does it mean that this gender mania is permeating every corner of Western societies “and culture?

“How has it happened that so many of today’s most daring and radical young people now define themselves by sexual identity alone?

“Transgender phenomena multiply and spread in ‘late’ phases of culture, as religious, political, and family traditions weaken and civilizations begin to decline”.

Furthermore, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer rights in Israel are already considered the most developed in the Middle East and Asia. In contrast, the Arab world has no problem with throwing gays off the tops of roofs.

Yet the group advocating the Pride flag asserts they will “create equality” [emphasis mine] by expanding LGBTQ inclusion and equality… with Israel.”

And how odd that white (generally known as Caucasian) now merely represents the trans community, thus erasing an entire group of people on the multi-color rainbow!

Since we are all created in the image of G-d, no one should be denied fundamental rights. It is inimical to American and Jewish values.

Symbols are powerful tools. The Pride flag is a subtle camouflage for anti-Jewish, anti-Israel, and anti-White messages that the Left promotes. When American states “legislated to protect minors and preserve single-sex spaces such as restrooms and changing rooms, the answer from activist organizations was frequently accusations of bigotry[.]”

Moreover, the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), a major LGBTQ+ advocacy group, faced intense pressure and protests from pro-Palestinian groups. In essence, HRC accepted the falsehood about genocide against Palestinians.

In addition, the leftist, progressive agenda, which now permeates so many Jewish houses of worship, is largely defined by anti-Zionism and pro-Palestinian solidarity.

At one temple, the congregants recently by asking if any speakers for an upcoming educational series were anti-Zionist. He replied that the “speakers represent a range of perspectives on Israel, but all of them identify as Zionists.” To which they responded: “How can you claim to be a pluralist if you don’t invite the anti-Zionist perspective to the table?”

Notice how the hostility toward Israel is nuanced into the discussion.

The rabbi explained Zionism as ‘the Jewish people’s right to exist as a sovereign nation in their ancestral homeland.’

“To be a Zionist, then, is to believe in these things. I am a Zionist. That doesn’t mean I support every policy or action of the Israeli government, but it does mean that I believe the sovereign State of Israel has an unconditional right to exist as a Jewish state in the Land of Israel. Anti-Zionism rejects that premise.

In reality, anti-Zionism is the latest iteration of antisemitism. At this site, the emphasis is on Israel’s alleged genocide of Palestinians despite the facts being the exact opposite.

Ultimately, anti-Zionism is indicative of deep contempt for Israel and Jews.

Phyllis Chesler asserts that anti-Zionism is a plot to kill a nation. Chesler writes “if we abandon ‘Zionist,’ we risk leaving Jewish self‑determination unnamed, and therefore undefended. My plea is: don’t let opponents own our names. We must reclaim them unapologetically. Zionism is a mainstream political movement advocating for Jewish self-determination and protection in the state of Israel.”

At Unapologetically Jewish, author Melanie Philllips discusses the disturbing rise in anti-Zionism, and strategies to practically defeat it.

As Jews accept more and more leftist ideology are they engaging in self-sabotage? Under the guise of relentless progressive pluralism, are Jews undermining their own well-being and Jewish identity.? It may only begin with a Pride flag, but it metastasizes.
