The president of the Pontifical Academy of Theology,\u00a0Italian Bishop Antonio Staglian\u00f2, who was appointed by Pope Francis, created a stir recently via a viral video on Instagram.<\/p>\n

In the video, Staglian\u00f2 opined that John Lennon\u2019s famous\/infamous pacifist song\u00a0Imagine<\/em>\u00a0is the most beautiful song in the world.<\/p>\n

Imagine that.<\/p>\n

Staglian\u00f2 actually stated, \u201cLet\u2019s abolish religion, let\u2019s abolish God, let\u2019s abolish heaven. Who says that? John Lennon, in the most beautiful song in the world,\u00a0Imagine<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n

The bishop made his remarks in the context of asserting that no religion \u2014 and therefore no concept, idea, or principle \u2014 should be worth killing or dying for.<\/p>\n

Per lifesitenews.com, he concluded his remarks by stating his own interpretation of the Gospel:<\/p>\n

\u201cI too, like John Lennon,\u201d Staglian\u00f2 continued, \u201cdo not want a religion for which I must kill or die, I do not want a heaven for which I must kill or die, I do not want a God for whom I must kill or die. And don\u2019t worry \u2013 this was said, before John Lennon, two thousand years ago by Jesus of Nazareth.\u201d<\/p>\n

Staglian\u00f2 concluded by stating his interpretation of the Gospel: \u201cStanding before the High Priest, Jesus said: Get it out of your head that my Abba, my God, my Father killed the firstborn sons of Egypt or the charioteers and horses of the Egyptian army, or that He ordered Saul to put prisoners to the sword\u2026 Get it out of your head, because my Abba is always and only love. With my Abba you can only make peace, reconciliation, and forgiveness.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

A Catholic bishop, president of the Pontifical Academy of Theology, touting a song whose lyrics read \u201cImagine there\u2019s no heaven\u201d as the most beautiful in the world seems to me to be a tad heretical. I mean, Jesus dying on the cross and being resurrected so that our sins might be expunged and we might have a chance at eternal life probably infers the existence of a heaven, no?<\/p>\n

But he insisted that since he has a fancy Vatican job, he couldn’t possibly be a heretic.<\/p>\n

\u201cMe, a heretical bishop? That\u2019s a luxury I can\u2019t afford,\u201d Staglian\u00f2 quipped. \u201cI am a bishop and, moreover \u2013 with all due respect \u2013 President of the Pontifical Academy of Theology, so I cannot be a heretical bishop. If someone thinks I\u2019m speaking heresy, then clearly they have some doctrinal confusion in their head. Where exactly would I be heretical? In saying that we cannot associate violence and punishments with the Holy Face of the Lord?\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

So what the hell, screw it. Let\u2019s hope (and pray?) that \u201cAbove us [is] only sky.\u201d<\/p>\n

Imagine<\/em>, verse 2:<\/p>\n

\n

Imagine there\u2019s no countries<\/p>\n

It isn\u2019t hard to do<\/p>\n

Nothing to kill or die for<\/p>\n

And no religion too<\/p>\n

Imagine all the people<\/p>\n

Living life in peace<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Imagine One World Government. Imagine being ruled by the European Union, the WEF, or the Communist Party of China. It isn\u2019t hard to do. And wouldn\u2019t it be great if there was no religion, too? Wouldn\u2019t that lead to all of us around the world living life in peace?<\/p>\n

No, it would lead to all of us being forced to worship The State as was done in the Soviet Union where the idea was acted out in real time, and to hell with individual rights and the rule of law.<\/p>\n

And I am not a fan of killing or <\/em>dying, but, let\u2019s face it, if there is absolutely nothing for which you would die, there really isn\u2019t much reason to live. If nothing means much to you, no principle moves you, and you aren\u2019t willing to sacrifice for your spouse and children \u2026 is your life really worth living?<\/p>\n

The third verse of Lennon\u2019s Opus begins, \u201cImagine no possessions, I wonder if you can.\u201d<\/p>\n
