One of the mainstream\/legacy media\u2019s favorite tactics is to list every possible relation to violent criminals apprehended by ICE — or otherwise — in their news reports. Their fervent hope in creating these tug-on-the-heartstrings stories is that one\u00a0or more of these alleged \u201crelationships\u201d will resonate with viewers\/listeners\/readers completely apart from the salient fact that they are violent criminals, or, at the very least, illegally in the U.S.<\/p>\n

A generic example: Mohammad is a Maryland dad of two precious girls, a son, brother, grandfather, husband — and beloved second cousin twice-removed. He is a stamp collector, foodie, and part-time drone pilot with a dry sense of humor and a charming dimple. Mohammad says he also likes to knit colorful beanies in his spare time. (They leave out that he also says that in his culture it is not wrong to have sexual relations with a very young girl — or a goat.)\u00a0They do say that he would suffer extreme mental anguish<\/em> if he was forced to return to his native land. After all, he notes, \u2018we don\u2019t have a McDonald\u2019s in my country.”<\/p>\n

What the hell?! How is this kind of \u201creporting\u201d in any way related to \u201cjournalism\u201d?<\/p>\n

It is shameless and pathetic that these so-called news organizations keep listing the alleged traits, relations, hobbies, etc., of serially violent criminals in the hope that people will identify with one or more of them — and therefore be more sympathetic to the perp. This is not reporting. It is a fervent attempt to advance an extremely dangerous agenda, against the interests of the United States and its citizens<\/em>.<\/p>\n
