She made good on her promise\/threat, eventually convicting Trump of violating a law that had never been used to prosecute anyone for a crime where no fraud had been committed, there were no victims, and no one complained. In fact, the banks involved made truckloads of money and testified they very much wanted to do business with Trump in the future. She gleefully announced the excessive fine bizarre, leftist judge Arthur Engoron levied against Trump:<\/p>\n

That fine was later overturned as a blatant Eighth Amendment violation.<\/p>\n

There was no doubt that Trump\u2019s trial was a political prosecution, a coordinated effort of lawfare with other jurisdictions in an unsuccessful attempt to deny Trump a second term. Now, there is proof of that and worse:<\/p>\n

According to<\/strong>\u00a0the\u00a0Times Union<\/em>:<\/p>\n

A prosecutor in the New York attorney general\u2019s office sent an agency-wide\u00a0email to hundreds of colleagues Friday [08-28-26] claiming that he had been instructed by his supervisor \u201cto\u00a0find and pursue crimes committed by specific individuals and organizations affiliated with Donald Trump,\u201d according to a copy of the email obtained by the Times Union.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The prosecutor, who was assigned to the Investor Protection Bureau, alleged in his email that his bureau chief,\u00a0Shamiso Maswoswe, had directed him to target \u201cTrump himself, Truth Social, Hewlett Packard (DOJ approved merger) \u2026 without having a credible reason for targeting this organizations and individuals.\u201d<\/p>\n

The email sent early Friday by Assistant Attorney General Daniel Wiesenfeld, who officials said has worked for the attorney general\u2019s office for about two years, was quickly deleted from the office\u2019s servers and vanished from the inboxes of more than 2,000 employees. A follow-up agency-wide email subsequently sent by Attorney General Letitia James\u2019 general counsel, Kumiki Gibson, informed employees that it was an \u201cinternal\u201d matter and that no one in the office was \u201cin danger,\u201d according to three people familiar with the communication.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

It won\u2019t take long to see how much \u201cdanger\u201d Wiesenfeld is in. One doesn\u2019t uphold the law and prosecutorial ethics and tell the truth in James\u2019 Office without consequences:<\/p>\n

Responding to the\u00a0Times Union\u2019s<\/em>\u00a0request for comment, James\u2019 spokeswoman Alexis Richards said in a statement:<\/p>\n

This is a personnel matter, and the employee in question has been placed on administrative leave with full pay. The office of the attorney general is committed to upholding New York\u2019s laws and protecting the rights and freedoms of all New Yorkers, regardless of political beliefs. We strongly reject any assertion to the contrary.<\/p>

They can reject any assertion they like, but their corruption is evident. It gets even better:<\/p>\n

The outlet reported that after his first email was deleted, Wiesenfeld sent a second one which began, \u201cThe best part of having f*** you money is being able to tell the truth, without fear of consequences so here we go.\u201d<\/p>\n

He wrote:<\/p>\n

If you believe Trump is using (Department of Justice) attorneys to prosecute his enemies and further his political interests, you should find it equally troubling that Tish [James] is doing exactly the same thing. I ask that you not serve as Tish\u2019s personal attorneys by targeting her political enemies. Instead, I hope you choose to prosecute crimes and find the individuals accountable, rather than targeting individuals and then finding crimes.<\/p>\n

Additionally, Wiesenfeld alleged that while James had used \u201csignificant public taxpayer dollars to target convenient public enemies,\u201d she has done nothing about \u201crampant nonprofit homeless shelter fraud and antisemitic crimes in and around synagogues.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Since that 2024 trial, countless commentators have lashed back at James\u2019 claim that in prosecuting Trump, she was merely enforcing the law as any non-partisan AG should. It appears the Times Union and Wiesenfeld have the receipts that prove James\u2019 claim of prosecutorial virtue is, and always was, a lie.\u00a0<\/p>\n

That, and the fact that Trump\u2019s prosecution was unprecedented, and the jury inherently biased against him, just might have some bearing on his appeal.<\/p>\n
