Here in Texas, candidate James Talarico wants to raise taxes on the rich.\u00a0Let’s get\u00a0the details:<\/p>\n

Facing polls indicating his support has topped out and doubts from fellow Democrats who do not believe he has what it takes to excite minority communities, Talarico is now openly campaigning on raising taxes on Americans.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve told every wealthy person I\u2019ve come across in this race: If you are ok with getting taxed more, if you\u2019re ok with me limiting your influence in politics, you are welcome to join this movement that we are building,\u201d he said, thanking billionaire entrepreneur Mark Cuban for being part of it.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Talarico\u2019s campaign platform includes plans to create what he described as a \u201cfairer\u201d tax system.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cMake giant corporations and the wealthiest Americans pay their fair share of taxes. (That way, we can cut taxes for working families and small businesses,),\u201d he claims \u2013 a promise that leftists often make but never deliver on for hardworking Americans. His campaign website claims that he is interested in making \u201cbillionaires pay their fair share in taxes,\u201d including \u201cby imposing a higher tax on their income and capital gains and ending the dubious \u2018buy, borrow, die\u2019 loopholes that billionaires use to grow untaxed wealth.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>

He also wants to raise the corporate tax rate while standing up against what he described as \u201cattacks against SNAP and WIC,\u201d but are actually the efforts of the Trump administration to root out fraud, waste, and abuse in these programs.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Fair share?\u00a0Raise the corporate tax?\u00a0Where have we heard that nonsense before?\u00a0The ugly not beautiful bill?<\/p>\n

So let me get this straight.\u00a0Businesses from high-tax states are moving to Texas and bringing jobs and taxpayers.\u00a0They leave places like California and move to Texas seeking a more business-friendly environment.\u00a0So, what is Mr. Talarico talking about?\u00a0Turn Texas into\u00a0California?\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Like other liberal demagogues, Mr. Talarico is blaming the “affordability” crisis on the rich not paying their fair share.\u00a0Yet, he won’t say a word about the cost of government in our family budgets.\u00a0How much is government costing you, and what benefits are you getting from that investment?\u00a0You pay higher taxes, but the streets are in bad shape, and the schools can’t teach.\u00a0But let’s blame it on the rich because that’s what your crowd wants to hear.<\/p>\n

Maybe Mr. Talarico should take his act to the West Coast and run there.\u00a0And take Mark Cuban with him.<\/p>
