It is astonishing what most of the media report on and what information they intentionally hide from the public as they cheerfully campaign for all Democrats, including the self-avowed socialists. Talking points from the media and other Democrats will almost always include the word \u201caffordability,\u201d along with falsely accusing Trump of being responsible for the \u201caffordability crisis.\u201d However, they never ask how much all the government programs will cost to reach the elusive \u201caffordability.\u201d<\/p>

Currently, they endlessly report that Trump\u2019s 50% tariffs on $20 billion worth of Canadian products will make American goods unaffordable. Let\u2019s evaluate that claim.<\/p>\n

Even under the extreme assumption that the entire $10 billion will be passed directly to American consumers and spread evenly across the population, the hit is minimal for most people. $10 billion divided by 343 million people is $29.15 per year or $2.43 per month or, rounded up, 8 cents each day. Maybe people could give up a half cup of Starbucks coffee each month to compensate.<\/p>\n

Speaking of coffee, the wholesale price of Colombian coffee was $1.70 per pound when Trump ended his first term, and went up to $3.41 (up 100.6%) when Biden left office. It fell to $3.25 in June 2026, eighteen months into Trump\u2019s term. Still, the media didn\u2019t talk about unaffordability during Biden\u2019s years and endlessly blame Trump now.<\/p>\n

When Trump won the election, people were warned to go out and buy new cars because tariffs would substantially raise prices. The media never similarly warned people about the costs from Biden\u2019s policies and regulations aimed at ending gas cars, including forcing car companies to make and sell expensive electric cars that the people didn\u2019t want.<\/p>\n

Here are the facts about the average price of new cars:<\/p>\n
