In an August 12 interview with Slovak television personality Adela Vinczeov\u00e1, Father Adam \u0160tefanec said he avoids the word \u201cGod\u201d because it \u201cno longer says anything to anyone,\u201d rejects the traditional greeting \u201cJesus Christ be praised,\u201d questions the divine nature of Jesus, and seeks language that can be used equally by believers and non-believers.<\/p>\n

God \u201cno longer says anything to anyone?\u201d<\/p>\n

Does he\u00a0have laryngitis or are we just not listening anymore? And what does he mean by \u201clanguage that can be used equally by believers and non-believers?\u201d<\/p>\n

That seems silly.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019d like a Big Mac, large fries, and a Diet Coke?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u0160tefanec, a big proponent of the LGBTQ community, also flatly stated, \u201cI don\u2019t like the word \u2018God.\u2019<\/p>\n

If he doesn\u2019t like the word<\/em> \u201cGod,\u201d is it likely he likes the Word of<\/em> God? Probably not.<\/p>\n

He added that, \u201cIf God exists,\u201d there must be some \u201cuniversal word\u201d that connects all human beings, \u201cnot just active churchgoers or believers,\u201d\u00a0and trotted out \u201chumanity\u201d as one such possibility.<\/p>\n

Wow. \u201cHumanity.\u201d That\u2019s a new one. Deep thinker.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, when asked what it means to live according to what Christ wants, \u0160tefanec answered that \u201cthe answer is different for each person and different in every period of history. It is constantly changing.\u201d Continuing, he argued that God\u2019s will is about \u201cbeing faithful to yourself and living in harmony with yourself,\u201d which he defined as \u201cbeing authentic, and being human.\u201d<\/p>\n

There is no immutable reality? There are no absolute truths? I just have to live according to \u201cmy\u201d truths\u201d and be faithful to myself and do whatever I want to do in order to make myself feel good? In other words, I am my own<\/em> God and can worship myself<\/em>? This is fantastic<\/em> news!<\/p>\n

But is this the faith early Christians went to the lions for?<\/p>\n

Or is it the priesthood\u00a0of what St. Th\u00e9r\u00e8se of Lisieux called\u00a0“salt that has lost its savor”?<\/p>\n

It helps explain the domestic collapse of Christianity and the concurrent rise of socialism, which where the state becomes\u00a0the god, especially among the young.<\/p>\n

It probably shouldn’t surprise anyone that only 10 percent of the Czech Republic, a traditionally Catholic country, actually practices Catholicism. The rest of the country is 70 percent non-religious, and\u00a040 percent of those are fully atheist.<\/p>\n

God help us. Hope I didn\u2019t offend you. Oh wait, I forgot, Father \u0160tefanec says \u201cGod\u201d no longer \u201csays anything to anyone.\u201d So, we\u2019re good \u2026 right?<\/p>\n
