Our society is unwell.\u00a0\u00a0We see this in a thousand different ways.\u00a0\u00a0Regular church attendance has declined significantly over three generations.\u00a0\u00a0Marriage rates are down; divorce rates are up.\u00a0\u00a0An increasing percentage of women choose not to have children; an increasing percentage of men choose not to settle down.\u00a0\u00a0For its part, the entertainment industry glorifies selfishness, violence, vanity, promiscuity, abortion-on-demand, immediate gratification, and overindulgence, while mocking religion, hard work, compassion, fidelity, strong marriages, committed parents, and healthy families.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>

Post-WWII Americans participated in clubs, amateur sports, town halls, civic organizations, and religious gatherings; today, Americans collect online \u201cfriends,\u201d scream obscenities on social media platforms, and exercise next to strangers in the gym.\u00a0\u00a0As every part of our personal lives has become politicized, it has become increasingly difficult for Americans with varying political beliefs to interact.\u00a0\u00a0Political grievance has grown into a monster whose shadow follows us everywhere.\u00a0\u00a0This shadow now eclipses the invaluable relationships that we once collectively understood as \u201cour society,\u201d the special camaraderie among countrymen that has little to do with government or politics and everything to do with a people\u2019s concern for, allegiance to, and cooperation with each other.<\/p>\n

Although the ugly symptoms of society\u2019s illness are visible everywhere, they are particularly revolting when it comes to public celebrations of and excuses for murder.\u00a0\u00a0Over the last year, four high-profile murders have continued to dominate the news: (1) the political assassination of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, (2) the political assassination of Charlie Kirk, (3) the stabbing murder of high school student Austin Metcalf in Texas, and (4) a Massachusetts mother\u2019s strangling-murder of her three young children.\u00a0\u00a0Three of the four defendants accused of having committed these murders have either admitted to killing their victims or been convicted of murder.\u00a0\u00a0The defendant standing trial for Charlie Kirk\u2019s murder sent a number of communications after the assassination that strongly suggest his culpability.\u00a0\u00a0In other words, there has been very little confusion in any of these four cases as to who committed murder.<\/p>\n

Nevertheless, all four defendants have received an outpouring of support from parts of the American public.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

After the assassination of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in December 2024, American leftists celebrated the murder as some kind of \u201cprincipled\u201d and \u201cjustified\u201d fight against private health insurance.\u00a0\u00a0Thompson\u2019s assassin had inscribed the words \u201cdelay,\u201d \u201cdeny,\u201d and \u201cdepose\u201d on cartridge cases used in the killing, and he was apprehended with a short manifesto criticizing the American healthcare system.\u00a0\u00a0These facts combined with the murderer\u2019s boyish good looks were enough to turn him into a celebrity among those Americans who wish to expand Obamacare\u2019s government takeover of medicine and end private health insurance for good.\u00a0\u00a0Even though the murderer shot Thompson in the back, many Democrats blamed \u201ccapitalism\u201d and \u201ccorporate greed\u201d for the slaying.\u00a0\u00a0Hundreds of thousands of social media users mocked the murder victim, and crowdsourcing raised well over a million dollars in funds to support the murderer\u2019s legal defense.\u00a0\u00a0Fashion designer Marc Jacobs\u00a0called\u00a0the murderer a \u201ctrendsetter\u201d who \u201clooks pretty good the way he dresses.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

A similarly ghoulish public reaction followed the assassination of conservative thought-leader Charlie Kirk last September.\u00a0\u00a0American leftists flooded social media platforms with celebratory messages.\u00a0\u00a0Many news pundits suggested that Kirk\u2019s Christian faith and defense of conservative principles made him guilty of \u201chate speech,\u201d a ludicrous charge that his alleged assassin had repeated in private messages.\u00a0\u00a0Democrat politicians mocked Kirk\u2019s young family for defending the Second Amendment after a rifle had been used in his murder.\u00a0\u00a0Jimmy Kimmel used his late-night show to\u00a0disseminate the lie\u00a0that MAGA Americans were somehow responsible for Kirk\u2019s assassination, even though all evidence points to a violent leftist in a relationship with someone claiming to be \u201ctransgender.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0Washington Post columnist Karen Attiah defamed Kirk as a \u201cracist\u201d and\u00a0lectured, \u201cPart of what keeps America so violent is the insistence that people perform care, empty goodness, and absolution for white men who espouse hatred and violence.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0In defending her callous trivialization of a political assassination, she\u00a0insisted, \u201cRefusing to tear my clothes and smear ashes on my face in performative mourning for a white man that espoused violence is\u2026not the same as violence.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0A leftist assassinated Charlie Kirk for his political beliefs, and the mainstream corporate press have conspired with American leftists to blame Kirk for his own murder.<\/p>

After a black high school student stabbed Austin Metcalf in the heart with a knife at a Texas track meet, every race huckster in America came to the murderer\u2019s defense.\u00a0\u00a0James Talarico, the Texas Democrat running for the U.S. Senate, has\u00a0argued\u00a0that, because \u201cthere were no black members of the jury\u201d that convicted Metcalf\u2019s murderer, the \u201csystem is not working for black Texans.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0The New Black Panther Party has spent months\u00a0demanding\u00a0that the murderer be released in the name of \u201cblack power.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0Many of the murderer\u2019s apologists claim that he acted in self-defense.\u00a0\u00a0These absurd and racist claims have persisted despite the convicted murderer having admitted to police that he committed the murder.\u00a0\u00a0Hours before killing Metcalf, the murderer\u00a0texted, \u201cWhen I stab somebody I\u2019m gonna lick their blood off the blade.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0The murderer\u2019s girlfriend reported him for stalking just one hour before he stabbed Metcalf to death.\u00a0\u00a0In another text, the murderer\u00a0admitted\u00a0being \u201con the verge\u201d of committing violence.\u00a0\u00a0Nevertheless, the murderer has legions of supporters who blame \u201cwhite supremacy\u201d for his conviction.<\/p>\n

Finally, mobs of pink-clad, leftist women are defending a Massachusetts mother on trial for murder, even though she confessed to strangling her three children to death.\u00a0\u00a0The murderer and her army of supporters blame \u201cpostpartum psychosis\u201d for the triple-murder.\u00a0\u00a0Women across the country have\u00a0chosen\u00a0to give the child murderer \u201cthe peaceful support she deserved.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0There are thousands of online videos in which women\u00a0express sympathy\u00a0for the murderer because of how difficult it is to take care of young children.\u00a0\u00a0If the thought of millions of leftist women across the country empathizing with a mother who strangled her own babies were not startling enough, it is worth\u00a0noting\u00a0that over 50 percent of white, leftist women under the age of thirty have been diagnosed with a mental health condition and nearly 30 percent of women have an antidepressant prescription.<\/p>\n

On the flip side, former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin is serving decades in prison for subduing \u2014 in a manner\u00a0consistent\u00a0with his training \u2014 George Floyd, a non-compliant suspect under arrest who had a lengthy criminal record and both fentanyl and methamphetamine in his system.\u00a0\u00a0Because Floyd subsequently struggled to breathe and died while in custody, leftists demanded that Chauvin be tried and convicted of murder.\u00a0\u00a0Seeking vengeance, not justice, Black Lives Matter and Antifa\u00a0burned down neighborhoods\u00a0across the country and left dozens of unsolved homicides in their wake.\u00a0\u00a0The threat of continued violence secured Chauvin\u2019s conviction.\u00a0\u00a0As Elon Musk recently\u00a0wrote, \u201cDerek Chauvin was unjustly convicted of murder, therefore he should be freed.\u00a0\u00a0The facts show that he was not the cause of death, nor did he at any time intend for death to occur.\u2026That is the truth.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0But Chauvin is white, and the man who died in his custody was black.\u00a0\u00a0In America, \u201cblack lives matter\u201d is a sacred mantra; \u201call lives matter\u201d is considered \u201chate speech.\u201d<\/p>\n

When murderers are celebrated and scapegoats go to prison to satisfy the mob, it is clear that American society suffers from a devastating illness.\u00a0\u00a0We have communists who cheer the murder of businessmen.\u00a0\u00a0We have delusional people struggling with identity issues who believe Christians should be killed.\u00a0\u00a0We have race hucksters who excuse violence, while condemning police officers\u2019 best efforts to enforce the law.\u00a0\u00a0And we have a lot of women who embrace and excuse madness.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>
