I\u2019ve got a few that I listen to repeatedly, one of which is <em>Remember the Alamo<\/em> by Asleep at the Wheel (originally by Tex Ritter), because the lyrics are so good and at the end of the song, there\u2019s a spoken reading of the last letter that Colonel William Barret Travis sent before his death\u2014which I can now recite by heart. (I homeschooled both my boys for a year, and we spent a good number of lessons on the Alamo, using Travis\u2019s letter as a teaching tool in multiple ways.)<\/p><p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/interstatelogisticshubs.com\/?p=5148\">Fauci may be charged in spite of his pardon<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Those lyrics, and Travis\u2019s last thoughts while sustaining nonstop cannonade from an overwhelming enemy force, no doubt became the foundational pillars of the \u201cDon\u2019t Mess With Texas\u201d quip we all know and love\u2014when Santa Anna demanded a surrender in 1836, Colonel Travis \u201canswered with a cannon shot\u201d and at the time, his \u201cflag still wave[d] proudly from the walls.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But, it seems that attitude is as dead as Travis, Davy Crockett, Jim Bowie, and every other man whose bodies littered the fort\u2019s grounds when Santa Anna\u2019s men eventually breached the walls.<\/p>\n<p>Take a look at where we are, 190 years later:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;try that in Texas&#8221;<br\/>\n<br\/>\r\nTexas: pic.twitter.com\/TTXdv4EaGF<\/p>\r\n\u2014 Marty (@Son_of_Mars_III) August 18, 2026<\/blockquote>\n<p>The flag of India is either level with the American and Texan flags, or perhaps even higher\u2014I can\u2019t quite tell by the angle.
