Well, it\u2019s time for another episode of the story of men playing in women\u2019s sports? It shouldn\u2019t even be a controversial issue because most Americans believe that men shouldn\u2019t compete with women. It\u2019s common sense, not civil rights, but some on the other side just see everything in terms of oppression and victimhood. These people always have their eyes on the prize.<\/p>\n

Enter a veteran sports columnist. His name is Matt Calkins, and he felt that hearing from a couple of young women was a good story. Here is Matt:<\/p>\n

Toward the end of last month, before the Seattle Storm hosted the Indiana Fever, I spoke to people attending a rally in support of Sophie Cunningham outside Climate Pledge Arena. The Fever guard had recently taken a stance against biological males competing in women\u2019s\/girls sports, and a few dozen folks showed up to express their gratitude for her position.<\/p>\n

One of them was 16-year-old Ahnaleigh Wilson, who\u2019d lost to a biological male in a track and field race in eighth grade and was holding a sign reading \u201cThank You Sophie for Speaking up for Girls!\u201d<\/p>\n

I didn\u2019t know if I was going to write something at that point, but after she allegedly got cussed out by a Storm co-owner during the game, I felt like I had to weigh in.<\/p>

One thing Wilson emphasized to me at the rally was that she wasn\u2019t anti-trans. Another student-athlete named Frances Staudt \u2014 who said she\u2019s endured daily verbal abuse after refusing to play against a biological boy in a basketball game \u2014 echoed Wilson\u2019s sentiment.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

It sounds like it was a good column about a couple of girls who have a point of view about men competing with women.<\/p>\n

Well, the newspaper refused to run it, Matt resigned, and a viewpoint shared by most Americans is suddenly too hot to print.<\/p>\n

Maybe the newspaper was afraid of the reader backlash or the mob calling them transphobic. I have no idea, but now I understand why so many people who live outside of Seattle and Portland want to join Idaho.<\/p>
