I have often stated that Marxism is like herpes.\u00a0\u00a0Once a person thinks it\u2019s gone for good, it flares up\u00a0again.<\/p>

Marxism has openly surfaced recently, although I have repeatedly argued it has been present for over a decade under the surface.\u00a0\u00a0The communists now call themselves Democratic Socialists of America, but with the old hammer and sickle being visible.\u00a0\u00a0I strongly suspect that the adherents have not read one word of Marx, Trotsky, or Lenin, they just know that communism is destructive and thus useful in their hatred of their country.<\/p>\n

But, let us examine Marxism from a historical perspective.<\/p>\n

The core proposition of Marxism is that the imposition of Marxism on society improves the lives of human beings.\u00a0\u00a0Now let us look at the record.<\/p>\n

Communist dominion was established in Russia, China, Mongolia, North Korea, Vietnam, Hungary, Laos, Cambodia, Cuba, Estonia, Poland, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Yugoslavia, Albania, Germany, Lithuania, Romania, Czechoslovakia, Poland, Latvia, Armenia, Uzbekistan, Tadzhikistan, Tibet, Kazakhstan, Grenada, Turkmenistan, Ethiopia, and Kyrgyzstan.\u00a0\u00a0That\u2019s twenty-eight countries, twenty-eight case studies, twenty-eight experiments.<\/p>\n

Each location had its own customs, history, languages, geography \u2014 none of which is supposed to matter, anyway, according to the doctrine.<\/p>\n

In all 28 of its manifestations and implementations, the results have been dismal.\u00a0\u00a0For example:<\/p>\n

In every single instance, the standard of living \u2014 in every level of society \u2014 plummeted.\u00a0\u00a0Communism did not improve the lives of the people.<\/p>\n

In every single instance, while proclaiming itself to be truly egalitarian, a privileged aristocracy \u2014 what in Yugoslavia Djilas called the New Class and in Russia was called the Nomenklatura \u2014 came into being, composed entirely of members of the Communist Party.\u00a0\u00a0While many Ukrainians and Chinese and Cambodians and Ethiopians and North Koreans starved to death with their skin barely covering their skeletons, the new class feasted on fish, fruit, meats and all sorts of imported delicacies.\u00a0\u00a0So much for equality.<\/p>\n

In every single instance, Marxists wrecked the economy, and the production of consumer goods plummeted in both quantity and quality.\u00a0\u00a0Long lines of people, stretching for several street blocks, waited for their turn to purchase a shirt, or a pair of shoes, or rolls of toilet paper, or a can of powdered milk.\u00a0\u00a0This was a daily occurrence.<\/p>\n

The communist aristocracy, mind you, never waited in lines, but obtained as many items as they wanted from stores that catered exclusively to the Marxist aristocracy.\u00a0\u00a0In the particular case of Cuba, the scarcity of consumer goods has always been blamed on the American embargo, but this is simply an excuse given by the government and its foreign sycophants.\u00a0\u00a0The communists were directly responsible (as they were directly responsible in every single instance).\u00a0\u00a0In the case of Cuba, it is conveniently forgotten by their apologists that although one country has an embargo with Cuba, every other country in the world does not.<\/p>\n

In every single instance, the communists wrecked agriculture to the point that a rationing system had to be introduced (for the people, not for the communist aristocracy).\u00a0\u00a0In Russia, China, North Korea, and Cambodia, the famines became so intense that some of the people resorted to cannibalism.\u00a0\u00a0Neither the cannibals nor his food thought that communism had improved his life.<\/p>\n

In every single instance, the rule of law vanished as the Party members murdered thousands, and tens of thousands, sometimes simply on a rumor.\u00a0\u00a0Property was stolen or destroyed.\u00a0\u00a0As Che Guevara stated, \u201cTo kill a man, we don\u2019t need proof of his guilt.\u201d<\/p>\n

In every single instance, with the exception of Yugoslavia, citizens were forbidden to travel \u2014 not only outside the country, but inside the country as well.\u00a0\u00a0Previously, and significantly, only serfs had had this restriction.<\/p>\n

In every single instance, a pervasive militarism became the order of the day, so that even children were prepared to be thrown into battle as cannon fodder in order to protect the communist aristocracy.\u00a0\u00a0Slavenka Draculi\u0107 pointed out that women in communist countries were in a humiliating situation because the government demanded the production of more and more tanks but never even gave a thought to sanitary napkins for women.<\/p>\n

In every single instance, a cult of personality sprang up (Lenin, Stalin, Mao, Che, Tito, Castro, Hoxha, Kim, Ceau\u0219escu, etc.), so that the psychotic dictator was deified to absurd lengths.<\/p>\n

In every single instance, a vicious, repressive secret police force was created to suppress and control\u00a0\u00a0the people.<\/p>\n

In every single instance, the people were spied upon constantly by the communist government.<\/p>

In every single instance, history and historical facts were deliberately falsified, often to an absurd degree.<\/p>\n

In every single instance, film, art, and literature were grotesquely warped as fanatical mediocrities dictated both style and content, the non-adherence of which resulted in executions.<\/p>\n

In every single instance, science was mutilated as mediocrities imposed their quackery and put forth a \u201cMarxist biology,\u201d a \u201cMarxist psychology,\u201d a \u201cMarxist astronomy,\u201d a \u201cMarxist medicine,\u201d a \u201cMarxist chemistry,\u201d etc., based on the sacred writings of Lenin, Marx, Stalin, Lysenko, etc.\u00a0\u00a0Similar happened in Nazi Germany with \u201cGerman medicine,\u201d \u201cGerman physics,\u201d \u201cGerman psychology,\u201d etc.<\/p>\n

In every single instance, workers were ordered to \u201cvolunteer\u201d to work extra hours, usually at no pay, or face execution while being told that workers had never had it so good.<\/p>\n

In every single instance, theft and corruption were endemic as the people learned that since the government owned everything, the only way to survive was to steal from the government.\u00a0\u00a0Prostitution skyrocketed for the same reason.\u00a0\u00a0This increase in prostitution and theft is particularly significant because Marxist orthodoxy decreed that the only reason that theft and prostitution existed in capitalist countries was the inequality between social classes.<\/p>\n

In several countries, specifically Russia, Latvia, Estonia, Tibet, Lithuania, and Cambodia, a horrific genocide took place at the behest of the Communist Party.\u00a0\u00a0The victims of this genocide did not think of themselves as better off under communism.<\/p>\n

In several countries, specifically East Germany, Poland, Hungary, Tibet, Cuba, and Czechoslovakia, popular uprisings against the repressive communist regime took place, which were put down through military means by the new aristocracy.<\/p>\n

In East Germany and Romania, the governments revived the policy of slavery in that it literally sold individuals to the West.<\/p>\n

Now let us look at how Marxists have approached basic human rights.<\/p>\n

Freedom of speech \u2014 abolished.\u00a0\u00a0Freedom of the press \u2014 abolished.\u00a0\u00a0Freedom of religion \u2014 abolished.\u00a0\u00a0Freedom to own a home \u2014 abolished.\u00a0\u00a0Freedom to own property \u2014 abolished. Freedom to travel \u2014 abolished.\u00a0\u00a0Freedom of assembly \u2014 abolished. Freedom to criticize the government \u2014 abolished.\u00a0\u00a0Freedom to read books and view films of one\u2019s choosing \u2014 abolished.\u00a0\u00a0Freedom to grow food for oneself \u2014 abolished.\u00a0\u00a0Freedom to have privacy \u2014 abolished.\u00a0\u00a0Freedom to own a weapon \u2014 abolished.\u00a0\u00a0Freedom to have free elections \u2014 abolished.\u00a0\u00a0Freedom to educate one\u2019s children without indoctrination \u2014 abolished.<\/p>\n

Freedom to maintain one\u2019s family \u2014 abolished.\u00a0\u00a0Freedom of workers to unionize \u2014 abolished.<\/p>\n

In reviewing all of the above, we see then, that historically, far from improving the lives of the people, Marxism actually has had a catastrophic effect on the lives of human beings.\u00a0\u00a0Further proof is the indisputable fact that in every Marxist country, the ruling class restricted emigration of the population.\u00a0\u00a0The Berlin Wall was, in fact, erected to prevent this mass exodus of the people, which was referred to as the \u201cpeople voting with their feet.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0Those who tried to escape but failed usually paid with their lives.<\/p>\n

One of the modern mantras regarding the ideology is that Marxism has not been correctly implemented and, if carried out correctly, would result in utopia.\u00a0\u00a0However, Trotsky said Stalin was doing it wrong.\u00a0\u00a0Stalin said Tito was doing it wrong.\u00a0\u00a0Khrushchev said Stalin was doing it wrong.\u00a0\u00a0Mao said Khrushchev was doing it wrong.\u00a0\u00a0Hoxha said they were all doing it wrong.\u00a0\u00a0Brezhnev said Khrushchev was doing it wrong.\u00a0\u00a0Pol Pot said they were all doing it wrong.<\/p>\n

Each time, the same results.<\/p>\n

Because I lived in a communist regime and because of my study of history, I have delved into both the history and the writings of the famous communists, like Lenin, Castro, Che, Trotsky, and Mao.\u00a0\u00a0For decades, their writings were proclaimed to be works of genius.\u00a0\u00a0But on reading them, I concluded they were mediocrities, adored by the lesser communists simply because of their shared hatred for their societies and their peoples.<\/p>\n

And because I lived in a communist regime and because of my study of history, I have been able to distill Marxism into its essence: Steal Everything and Kill Everyone.\u00a0\u00a0Or, to put it another way, communists are like the Mafia, but with politics.<\/p>\n

If you meet anyone who parrots that communism hasn\u2019t been properly implemented, you might want to throw some of the above facts at her face.<\/p>
