I find it odd that shortly after seeing a cult film by Roman Polanski, the 1999 flick \u201cThe Ninth Gate,\u201d my thoughts went straight to James Talarico, the Democrat Senate nominee who will run against Attorney General Ken Paxton in the fall.<\/p>

In a strange way, the movie I had just seen merged like an AI mist over a picture of Talarico I caught online.<\/p>\n

First let me say something about the film: it\u2019s a Polanski classic about a book detective on the hunt for a 17th-century book on how to summon the Devil.<\/p>\n

Talarico is a sort of menacing Howdy Doody character, well-dressed with a small impish face and a haircut that looks like plastic sculpture. Stephen Miller called Talarico \u201ctransgender\u201d and President Trump likes to call him a \u201cvegan.\u201d Others call him \u201cTofu Talarico.\u201d Talarico also claims to be a devout Christian (he spent time as a Presbyterian seminarian). In fact, he\u2019s famous for the line, \u201cDemocracy is a spiritual practice.\u201d<\/p>\n

Listen to him speak on You Tube interviews and you may make a startling discovery. He is the \u201ctransgender, vegan\u201d version of Barack Obama. Talarico has Obama\u2019s polished speaking, makes similar hand gestures, and his use of the English language has a silver tongue quality identical to the 44th president.<\/p>\n

When Talarico appeared on a special You Tube version of the Stephen Colbert show earlier this year, the \u201cObama imprint\u201d was overwhelming.<\/p>\n

Talarico told Colbert: \u201cI think Donald Trump is worried that we are about to flip Texas.\u201d He then informed Colbert how people supporting him in Texas were coming up to him in droves, whispering, \u201cI\u2019m not a Democrat.\u201d<\/p>\n

In many interviews, Talarico likes to say that across Texas, a \u201cbacklash is growing\u201d because people want to \u201ctake back our country.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cTake back\u201d as in resurrect DEI, open the borders, allow transgenders in the military, reform or defund ICE, and allow American museums like the Smithsonian to further woke ideology at taxpayer\u2019s expense.<\/p>\n

Talarico\u2019s central message, between hand gestures and a fixed smile, is the separation of Church and State and the dangers of so-called Christian nationalism.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy grandfather was a Baptist preacher. \u2018Love God and love your neighbor,\u2019 was his message,\u201d he told Colbert. \u201cThere\u2019s nothing Christian about Christian Nationalism. Christian Nationalism is the worship of power in the name of Christ.\u201d<\/p>\n

Talarico\u2019s definition of Christian nationalism is the Roe reversal or the government\u2019s ban on trans surgeries for children.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t believe in a progressive or conservative Christianity; I believe in a biblical Christianity,\u201d he has stated. He often cites his faith and the teachings of Christ as the reason he launched his political career. He believes that Christianity is only about following the commandments to love God and one\u2019s neighbor, and that politics is \u201canother word for how we treat our neighbors.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Colbert audience, filled with agnostics and atheists, cheered him on, especially when he emphasized that Jesus never talked about gay marriage or abortion.<\/p>

\u201cJesus talked about feeding the hungry, welcoming the stranger,\u201d he stated. In other interviews he explained his pro-abortion biblical views by citing the Annunciation when the angel Gabriel seemed to offer Mary a choice to give, or not to give, birth to the Son of God. Of course, what is really on display here is human free will, but in Talarico\u2019s \u201cNinth Gate\u201d world, this has been turned upside down to mean that Mary could have aborted Jesus and it would have been A-okay in God\u2019s book.<\/p>\n

While Jesus didn\u2019t explicitly mention homosexuality, that fact does not equate to moral approval; I\u2019ve always been of the opinion that it would have been easier for everybody if Jesus had said more about the subject. But He didn\u2019t. We only have Old Testament biblical references and the writings of St. Paul.<\/p>\n

With his puppet Howdy Doody-smile, Talarico has cleverly changed the definition of Christianity to mesh with leftist Democrat talking points. And he does this with an almost tearful emphasis on loving your neighbor as if this and nothing else defined Christianity.<\/p>\n

He believes Christianity has no business castigating governments that would take moral positions and ban abortion, gay marriage, or the transgender mutilation of children. He has publicly expressed his support for so-called trans children, calling them \u201can inspiration.\u201d He opposes legislation that would restrict their access to gender-affirming care.<\/p>\n

\u201cTrans people aren\u2019t taking away our health care. Undocumented people aren\u2019t defunding our schools. Muslims aren\u2019t cutting taxes for themselves and their rich friends. It\u2019s the billionaires and their puppet politicians,\u201d Talarico noted.<\/p>\n

How does this all have to do with the Polanski film?<\/p>\n

In \u201cThe Ninth Gate,\u201d the Devil-worshipping advocates show loving kindness towards strangers. They say \u201cplease\u201d and \u201cthank you,\u201d hold doors for the elderly, and are polite to a fault. They are nice because the Devil usually wears a smiling face, and because Lucifer was the most beautiful of the fallen angels.<\/p>\n

Like Obama, Talarico is a fashion bug. He sometimes wears two-inch-high Texas leather boots, and he\u2019s famous for his navy-blue suits. When Beto O\u2019Rourke interviewed him two years ago, the two leftwing soy boys meshed in an orgasmic display of respect and admiration.<\/p>\n

Joe Rogan, conned by the little bugger, told Talarico he should run for president.<\/p>\n

I believe Rogan said this because he saw the same startling Obama-effect I had picked up on. This effect \u2014 it really does have a mystical \u201cNinth Gate\u201d eeriness \u2014 is beginning to sway independents and Republicans in Texas. Talarico\u2019s opponent, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, is the better candidate. but sadly scores zero on the charisma charts.<\/p>\n

Talarico is already ahead in the polls, and this is a very troubling development.<\/p>\n

Ann Coulter once said of Talarico that Democrats always get \u201cvery excited over any Democratic candidates who appear to be heterosexual white males, since that is such a declining part of the Democratic Party base.\u201d She seemed to think Paxton a shoe-in.<\/p>\n

But I disagree.<\/p>\n

In the Polanski movie, all the Devil worshippers come to a bad end after an \u201cup-escalator\u201d life of ease. The bad ending may take years, but since the Devil does not rule by the rule of love, but by the rule of betrayal where there is no love, his ardent followers are always betrayed by him in the end.<\/p>\n

Talarico\u2019s political ascent, built as it is on his distortions of Christianity, which include the idea that God is non-binary and there are six sexes, that abortion is fine and that Jesus smiles on five-year-old transgender genital mutilation \u2014 and that governments that ban these things are guilty of \u201cChristo-fascism\u201d \u2014 is in his own wicked way, taking what he likes from Christianity and discarding everything else.<\/p>
