Welcome to modern Australia, a nation that has taken woke political correctness to a ludicrous extreme when anything involves the Aborigines, the people living in Australia before British settlers arrived. In today\u2019s Australia, we live in a world where every council meeting, small or large, starts with a \u201cwelcome to country.\u201d I refuse to attend any meeting or event that starts this.<\/p>

We live in a fake world where we are told that Aborigines, Noble Savages, were custodians of Australia for 60,000 years until the white man destroyed their idyllic life. The implication is that they took exquisite care of the land, which was destroyed when the Europeans came to this Paradise.<\/p>\n

Well, maybe not so much.<\/p>\n

I recently watched a series from the WWII period. It was a quintessentially English series that had a scene in which a couple was walking through a \u201cwood.\u201d The woman explained that her father had made her learn all the tree types\u2014ash, oak, juniper, yew, birch, hazel, beech, elm, hawthorn\u2014and more. These trees all still exist in an English wood.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s different in Australia. Aboriginal land husbandry, so-called \u201cCultural Burning,\u201d has relegated Australians to gum trees\u2014the rest died out through thousands of years because they could not survive relentless man-made fires. These constant man-made fires didn\u2019t allow regeneration for anything but eucalyptus trees.<\/p>\n

As an aside, \u201cman-made\u201d fires are something of a misnomer. Aborigines had only the most rudimentary friction-based fire-making skills. The more common technique was for them to carry fire sticks from a fire they found last time.<\/p>

The Aborigines also ate our Megafauna, which is also what the Clovis people (North America\u2019s first indigenous people) did. Ten years ago, I was accused of racism for suggesting that the absence of surviving Megafauna in Australia was due to hunting rather than climate change. How dare I malign the noble savage? Now, though, the science strongly suggests I was correct, as the Megafauna vanished not long after the Aboriginal people arrived. By contrast, the Megafauna\u2019s disappearance .<\/p>\n

I was also called racist by an ABC radio presenter (in correspondence) for the claim that Aborigines were cannibals at one time. That fact is also accepted now, for it applies to all indigenous peoples in protein-light regions.<\/p>\n

I would like to roam a wood and see different species\u2014to learn the differences in nature, not a book. The Aboriginal people did what they needed to survive, but that doesn\u2019t mean that what they did was good for the land or its wildlife.<\/p>
