The Spokane disaster is just so sad with at least 600 homes burned to the ground since Saturday night and tens of thousands evacuated — look how beautiful the place used to be before the fires came through:<\/p>\n

\ud83d\udea8\ud83c\uddfa\ud83c\uddf8 Washington is under a statewide emergency as fast-moving wildfires tear through Spokane County.<\/p>\n

Hundreds of structures have already been destroyed and thousands of people forced to evacuate.<\/p>\n

Strong winds around Spokane are pushing the flames toward homes and keeping\u2026<\/p>\n

Six hundred homes gone. Schools, nursing homes, gas stations, shopping malls burned to the ground. Someone said it looked like a bomb went off. The three fires within the city have zero containment, and these figures are preliminary. It appears to be a massive disaster of the kind that destroyed Palisades, where 7,000 buildings were destroyed. And the rebuilding, if it’s anything like California’s and Hawaii’s blue-state rule, will be slow and nightmarish.<\/p>\n

Spencer Pratt, who lost his own home in the Palisades fire and is still struggling to rebuild,\u00a0had moving words of empathy that only someone who has been through it would know, for\u00a0the people of Spokane:<\/p>\n

My deepest sympathies to the folks in Spokane who just lost everything in an instant. *As of now*, I’ve not seen any reports of fatalities, thank God, and I pray they were none, but a lot of beloved pets undoubtedly perished, and for many, that’s like losing family.<\/p>\n

It’s too soon to tell what happened — how much was lost, which Democrat policy did it. Was the fire department properly funded? Were the water reservoirs filled? Were the fire trucks in good order? Were earlier fires completely stomped out? Did greenie policies hamper anything? Were there illegal homeless encampments in the north of Spokane where fires were started for drug use? The area seems to have a history of it as recently as 2025. And, to be fair, the progressive city council did take action to at least try to shut them down — see here. But to put it into context, the state Supreme Court last year struck down an ordinance banning homeless camps, too. Did that open the door to this wildfire?<\/p>\n

These things will come to light as time goes on, though we have our suspicions.<\/p>\n

Pratt also had other recommendations about where to go from here, calling for a reframing of national priorities:<\/p>\n

Fire is a weapon of mass destruction. We need to treat it like the national security threat it is. In the last admin, “ologists” hijacked billions intended for fire management & laundered it to activist eco-NGOs. 60% of fire units are understaffed *right now*.<\/p>\n

It should be looked at closely at the national level. What difference is it to a victim whether their home gets destroyed in a foreign attack or a wildfire? The result is the same, and it’s happening too often.<\/p>\n
