It finally happened. As progressives have leaned further and further to the left, their shift has reflected less and less common sense. Were a prize to be given for introducing the most bizarre government program that was reflective of their ideology, it would no doubt go to a member of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) party.\u00a0 However, while many DSA warrant consideration, a recent Democrat party initiative wins the award \u201chands down.\u201d And it was submitted by someone once considered a party moderate and who had represented his party as a former vice presidential nominee.<\/p>\n

Nothing could better demonstrate that Governor Tim Walz of Minnesota has lost every bit of common sense than a project to be implemented this fall in state schools. For five years, taxpayer dollars have been used to fund this project with the purpose\u2014according to a University of Minnesota Medical School therapist\u2014to help kids \u201clearn about the different options that exist for who they can be.\u201d<\/p>\n

At first blush, one might correctly think, well, that is not overly progressive. But the project involves placing transgender dolls into classrooms that will have removable, interchangeable genitalia. Made of paper and labelled as \u201cMyGender Dolls,\u201d they bear gender-neutral names and will be equipped with more than one hundred swappable accessories and hairstyles. The latter allows the doll\u2019s appearance to be as interchangeable as its genitalia. Children as young as four are scheduled to be exposed to this outrageous program.<\/p>\n

Perhaps we should not be surprised at the initiative. Afterall, Walz is the same governor who signed a state education bill in 2023 to allow, based on the gender-neutrality wording used, placement of menstrual products in male school bathrooms. It gave rise to the name \u201cTampon Tim\u201d for him which still did not deter Democrats from nominating him as vice president on their 2024 presidential ticket.<\/p>\n

It has been scary to observe the leftward journey upon which the Democrat party has embarked. Just when it was thought we had seen the worst of what this journey could offer, Walz drops a disgusting cherry on top.<\/p>\n

Yet such a directional shift by Democrats\u2014a shift representing a totally different mindset from the party of John F. Kennedy of the 1960s\u2014has failed to generate the kind of intra-party debate among responsible Democrats that it should. It is as if Democrats have adopted a Stepford wives-like mentality\u2014blindly accepting what the party\u2019s far left leaders feed them.<\/p>\n

Our country periodically has found itself subjected to activists or politicians promoting ideologies falling either to the far right or far left of center. Ironically, while the far right enjoyed an anti-communism fling in America during the post-World War II era of McCarthyism, the far left is enjoying a pro-communism fling today.<\/p>\n

But just like McCarthyism eventually fell to the middle ground of common sense, we may be witnessing the beginning signs a crack is developing within the Democrat party\u2019s foundation, reflecting an effort to recalibrate its sights along a common sense line. Four high profile members of the party have been very vocal about the party\u2019s abandonment of common sense.<\/p>\n
