Sophie’s choice is to bring some common sense to the woke league. Of course, some people don’t like that, as we see in this article from the Sporting News<\/em>:<\/p>\n

In a feature written by ESPN’s Hallie Grossman, Cunningham — who has spoken out against transgender women who were born as biological men playing women’s sports — reiterated that she is standing up for “truth.”<\/p>\n

“I got a lot of negative feedback about me hating trans. And I’m like, ‘I never once said that,'” Cunningham told ESPN. “I think that I am here to extend love. But I also think with that love is truth, being honest. And I want to protect young girls in a locker room, or young girls in sport who shouldn’t have to go against biological men.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Once upon a time, or when common sense was common sense, having women go against biological men was never an issue. Who would support having men compete against women in whatever sport? You would have been referred to a mental specialist for saying something like that a few years ago.<\/p>\n

Not anymore. Sophie’s choice to make a common-sense statement about the biological differences between men and women has apparently upset some people.<\/p>

The WNBA’s players generally lean left politically, frequently focusing on social justice issues. While the WNBA hasn’t taken a stance on transgender athletes, one of Cunningham’s former teammates, Brianna Turner, took the opposite stance from Cunningham in April, writing, “Policies that single out transgender women and athletes with intersex variations do not protect women\u2019s sports.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Intersex variations? What in the world is that? As my late mother used to say, people think that they are smart by using big words.<\/p>\n

The fact is that boys are boys and girls are girls, and they should compete in their own leagues without “intersex variations.”<\/p>\n

I don’t know if the WNBA understands that Caitlin and Sophie are their meal tickets, but maybe not. In the meantime, talking about Caitlin and Sophie is the only thing that interests me and probably millions of others.<\/p>
