Over 40,000 university professors are here on H-1B visas. Not 400. Not 4,000. Over 40,000.<\/p>\n

That’s over 40,000 American academics who are out of a job. Roughly 72\u201373% of those are from India.<\/p>\n

Actually, it’s not 40,000 professors, per se<\/em>, I looked the figure up, but it is 40,000 university faculty employees who are holders of H-1B visas.<\/p>\n

According to the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources, which is a reputable group focused on gathering data on employment in higher education, it’s 40,600 higher ed faculty of all kinds, including tenured\/tenure track professors, non-tenure\u00a0teaching, non-tenure research, and adjunct.\u00a0<\/p>\n

They write:\u00a0<\/p>\n

The latest figures from the Bureau of Labor Statistics indicate there are approximately 1.4 million faculty working in higher ed institutions in the U.S. Extrapolating from our data, we estimate that there are currently about 40,600 higher ed faculty working with H-1B visas in the U.S.<\/p>\n

Of the 7,721 faculty reported in CUPA-HR\u2019s surveys as working with an H-1B visa, more than 70% are tenure-track\/tenured (TT) faculty (Figure 2). This is noteworthy because TT faculty typically have contracts that extend well beyond one year.<\/p>\n

Although the largest number of H-1B faculty are in tenure-track positions, the faculty type with the largest proportion of H-1B visa holders is non-tenure research faculty (Figure 3). Nearly 1 in 10 non-tenure research faculty members has an H-1B visa.<\/p>\n

Presumably about 7,000 answered their survey, but they estimated 40,600 of them were out there. Most of the answerers (70 percent) were tenure-track professors, but the highest proportion of H-1B visa holders from the various categories were post-doctoral researchers (9.1 percent), who, presumably, would have less contact with students than adjuncts and tenure and non-tenure track professors,\u00a0unless they worked as teaching aides. Still,the rest of them do have contact with students and one hopes that’s to teach nursing or engineering, not to indoctrinate in third-world-style protest chaos.<\/p>\n

It’s a high but not overwhelming number, given that 1.4 million people work in various university faculty capacities.\u00a0<\/p>\n

What’s more, most are concentrated in business, which makes one wonder why Americans, who are the world’s most successful businessmen, are not in those positions. Engineering has 12.3 percent, again, odd because of the number of native-born engineers here who can’t get work, and health professions 9.2 percent, again odd, because the U.S. overall has the world’s best medical facilities. We need to import foreigners? It’s also noteworthy that there are no caps on these H-1B-visa positions in academia, unlike many other fields.<\/p>\n

Several hard sciences follow, then social science, where the radicals are concentrated, come in at 5.8 percent.<\/p>\n

Why is anyone in a soft science being given an H-1B visa at all? Don’t we have enough home-grown radicals?\u00a0<\/p>\n

Are those imported radicals radicalizing America’s youth in the universities, creating the bizarre and unfamiliar phenomenon\u00a0of students on campus\u00a0protesting in favor of<\/em> Hamas and other terrorist groups? Based on what we have seen, and the tweet noted above, these\u00a0ideas are coming in from somewhere, given the number of American youth who have embraced these barbaric ideas so common in the third and fourth worlds, particularly by their comically useless intellectual classes, and up until now, always resisted by Americans, even most ’60s radical types.<\/p>\n

It’s probably not an argument for getting rid of H-1B visas altogether, given that many H-1B visa holders are very valuable in the sciences and perhaps other fields, such as nursing and business. But surely it’s an argument to fine-tune the program to prevent third-world-goober ideas from very unsuccessful societies completely dominating the universities. The person above, Shayoni Mitra, a professor at Barnard, is an utterly useless loser with no valuable research of any kind, (Street theatre in India? Turning students into protestors? Bringing in more radicals just like herself for visas?) I hope she is an anomaly.<\/p>\n

But based on what’s coming out of campuses these days, she probably isn’t.<\/p>\n

We shouldn’t be importing stupidity and foisting it onto our young.<\/p>\n
