Sorry, but even though Anne is currently being glorified on red carpets and lauded by late-night hosts, I find it difficult to take seriously a person who advocates for abortion on demand while being charitably associated with St. Jude Children\u2019s Research Hospital and the Human Rights Campaign, let alone someone who publicly celebrates her decision to allow her unborn child to gestate for nine months unharmed.<\/p>\n

Why do I feel this way?\u00a0\u00a0Because in Anne Hathaway\u2019s sphere of truth, human rights begin only after a child miraculously makes it out of the womb.<\/p>\n

Besides promoting herself as an icon of child advocacy, Hathaway is also an audacious supporter of what she calls \u201creproductive health care.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0In 2022, regarding the overturning of Roe v. Wade<\/em>, Hathaway preached on ABC\u2019s The View<\/em> that in her \u201cown personal experience with abortion … abortion can be another word for mercy.\u201d<\/p>\n

For those who redefine everything from life to gender to what is legal and illegal, I guess \u201cmercy\u201d has a new meaning.\u00a0\u00a0Hathaway expressed that she believes that her kind of mercy does not include the standard \u201ccompassion, leniency, or restraint (as in imposing punishment), especially … to one subject to the power of another,\u201d which is exactly what an unborn child in its mother\u2019s womb is.\u00a0\u00a0Instead, for Anne Hathaway, violently disposing of the most innocent, dependent, and helpless among us embodies the essence of mercy.<\/p>\n

Although the actress never explicitly admitted that she had an abortion, many listeners concluded that she was implying exactly that.\u00a0\u00a0According to her expressed opinion, \u201creproductive destiny matters a great deal,\u201d especially for young women beginning their careers.<\/p>\n

During that 2022 guest spot on The View<\/em>, Hathaway lamented the overturning of Roe v. Wade<\/em>, while imperiously shilling for scraping the contents of one\u2019s womb into a red biohazard bag and hauling it to an incinerator.\u00a0\u00a0Sagacious Anne reminded the applauding audience on The View<\/em> that \u201cwe\u2019re in the fight.\u00a0\u00a0We\u2019re in the fight every day.\u00a0\u00a0We\u2019re in the fight every minute.\u201d<\/p>\n

That\u2019s right, it\u2019s a noble endeavor \u2014 in some circles \u2014 to fight for the right to kill the unborn.<\/p>\n

Lest we forget, altruistic Anne also opposes child marriage but, based on her comments, somehow seems all for children having sex and aborting the result.\u00a0\u00a0Reminding the ladies, she said, \u201cYou mentioned\u00a0The Devil Wears Prada<\/em>\u00a0turning sweet 16.\u00a0\u00a0Some 16-year-olds\u2019 lives have been irrevocably changed because of the current overturning of\u00a0Roe v. Wade<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hathaway connected the importance of abortion access for women beginning their careers to what she described as her \u201cown personal experience with abortion.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0Given the context of those remarks, many listeners concluded she was referring to an abortion she herself had experienced.\u00a0\u00a0Hathaway has never clarified what she meant.<\/p>\n

She also linked abortion access to the opportunities available to young women starting their careers, saying, \u201cIf I were to play that role nowadays, I couldn\u2019t take that freedom for granted \u2014 the freedom of choice.\u201d<\/p>\n

The scripture that comes immediately to mind here is Jesus asking, \u201cFor what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?\u201d (Mark 8:36).<\/p>\n

Arrogantly, Hathaway continued, \u201cBy the way, this is not a moral conversation about abortion.\u00a0\u00a0This is a practical conversation about women\u2019s rights and, by the way, human rights, because women\u2019s rights are human rights.\u201d<\/p>\n

If the liberal psychotic break is so deep that one cannot recognize that the rights of an unborn human child are human rights, we\u2019re farther along the road to damnation than I thought.<\/p>

Then Anne shared deep thoughts with the rapt hosts, misconstruing flexibility as convenience, saying, \u201cWe know that no two pregnancies are alike, and it follows that no two lives are alike.\u00a0\u00a0When you allow for choice, you allow for flexibility, which is what we need in order to be human.\u201d<\/p>\n

No, Anne, to be human requires a heart, accepting responsibility for our actions, refusing to put our fame and fortune ahead of our children\u2019s lives, and rejecting the devilish notion that killing an unborn child in the name of \u201cflexibility\u201d is somehow morally acceptable.<\/p>\n

Now, here we are, four years later, and a very pregnant Anne is out sharing her story about conceiving in her forties.\u00a0\u00a0This is her third child, which she describes as an unexpected \u201cblessing.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0The baby Anne wants is a blessing, but an unwanted interference in her Hollywood aspirations would have been nothing more than a disposable inconvenience.<\/p>\n

Anne told Access Hollywood that when deciding to have a baby, she and her husband, Adam Shulman, \u201cdecided to see where life took us, with a very, very healthy, realistic expectation, which was very low,\u201d because of her age.\u00a0\u00a0On\u00a0Late Night with Seth Meyers<\/em>, she referred to this baby as a \u201cbuzzer-beater,\u201d because she managed to conceive under the menopause line.<\/p>\n

I guess my problem with all this duplicitous gushing is the unstated implication that, for Anne, a wanted child has more value than any child that this self-appointed spokesperson for motherhood said should be aborted because it would impose on a woman\u2019s career.<\/p>\n

Appearing recently on the Today Show<\/em> to celebrate her role as Penelope, Odysseus\u2019s wife, Anne became visibly emotional when the hosts presented her with an Odyssey<\/em>-themed basket that included a newborn-sized Trojan outfit and a tiny helmet for the impending child Anne decided to bestow the benevolence of carrying to term.<\/p>\n

Hathaway got all choked up and weepy; after all, this baby-themed shower of sorts is really all about Anne, her choices, her career, and the flexibility of having children who contribute to a form of self-fulfilling motherhood.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Anne Hathaway has elevated her opinion above the sanctity of life, touting abortion as a means for women to live full lives.\u00a0\u00a0She has framed the destruction of human life as a real-world issue and sanctioned feticide as a means to preserve the human right to bodily autonomy.\u00a0\u00a0In her opinion, disposing of one\u2019s offspring is defensible because no two pregnancies or lives are alike \u2014 whatever that means.\u00a0\u00a0Pregnancy always involves a woman and an innocent human life.<\/p>\n

In 2019, Hathaway publicly called out what she described as \u201cthe complicity of the white women\u201d who supported Alabama\u2019s abortion law, arguing that their actions would lead to the deaths of women, \u201ca disproportionate number of whom will be poor and\/or black.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0Apparently, Anne can memorize lines just fine but doesn\u2019t think deeply enough to recognize that blacks make up 13.5 percent of the U.S. population yet account for 39\u201340 percent of abortions.\u00a0\u00a0Stopping that level of genocide is not something a white racist, male or female, would do.<\/p>\n

In the end, being subjected to actress Anne Hathaway pontificating on motherhood after saying that aborting a child for the sake of a career is \u201cmerciful\u201d is like hearing Andrea Yates, who drowned five of her children, lecture America on gentle parenting.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

When Anne Hathaway saunters down another red carpet in a flowing white maternity gown, don\u2019t mistake the celebratory atmosphere for a universal affirmation of unborn life.\u00a0\u00a0The child who may one day wear that\u00a0Odyssey<\/em>-themed knitted helmet is more fortunate than the countless unborn children whose lives, according to Hathaway\u2019s public advocacy, may be ended in the name of career, convenience, or what she has called \u201cmercy.\u201d<\/p>\n

The contradiction is impossible to ignore.\u00a0\u00a0One unborn child is celebrated with designer gowns, glowing magazine covers, and congratulatory applause.\u00a0\u00a0Others, Hathaway argues, may be denied the chance to draw a first breath in the name of \u201cchoice,\u201d \u201cflexibility,\u201d or \u201cmercy.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0If that is modern moral progress, perhaps the real devil isn\u2019t wearing Prada anymore.\u00a0\u00a0Perhaps he\u2019s wearing maternity clothes.<\/p>
