I have really had it with the unending litigiousness of modern society, and people who refuse to take responsibility for and ownership over their own lives. The latest example comes from New York City, where Doris Montalvo, a woman living with her two children in taxpayer-funded housing<\/em> is now suing the city\u2019s housing authority (NYCHA), because her kids were allegedly bitten by mice in their apartment. I\u2019m so sick of loafing, nonproductive people living off my<\/em> dime, and when what they\u2019re provided with is inferior to the standards of living enjoyed by people with more money, they sue.<\/p>\n

Sure, her apartment is probably gross, and probably does have mice, so here\u2019s an idea\u2014pay your own freaking housing costs. I have the luxury of knowing that my children won\u2019t be bitten by mice while they\u2019re sleeping because I work hard and budget my money to prioritize a safe and clean home, above all else, meaning I don\u2019t have to subject myself to rent-assist slum apartments. It does mean things like getting my hair done, going for manicures, and shopping retail all come after<\/em> I\u2019ve made my house payment, and sometimes, I just have to forgo those things entirely. What a concept.<\/p>\n

Does Montalvo get her nails done? Does she have an iPhone? Does she pay for grocery delivery? Does she pay for streaming services? (I don\u2019t have any myself, both as a matter of principle and affordability.)<\/p>\n

She probably does to all of the above; most welfare people spend the money that does come through their hands frivolously and unwisely, which is exactly why they\u2019re stuck there. Even with housing costs being what they are\u2014and they really are ludicrous\u2014no one is going to convince me right now that a single mother in the U.S. with two kids actually has nowhere else to except\u00a0a mouse-infested Section 8 apartment unit. Maybe Montalvo doesn\u2019t get to live in one of the richest locales in the U.S., and she has to opt for a more affordable and less glamorous place, like I did when I made the decision to move to Alabama. (I would love to live in the Hamptons myself, but there\u2019s this crazy thing called reality, which dictates that\u2026I just can\u2019t afford to<\/em>.) Maybe not for long, but America really is still the land of opportunity.<\/p>\n

Or, an easy solution to the mouse problem, offered by a colleague: get a damn cat. Alternatively, don\u2019t vote for Democrats (which welfare people overwhelmingly do) whose policies are actively turning the Big Apple into the Rotten Apple.<\/p>
