In 1959, Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev visited the United States.\u00a0 He was awed at what he saw \u2014 capitalism at work in food abundance, huge grocery store selections, self-service cafeterias, agricultural efficiency, infrastructure (roads and highways), and our entertainment.\u00a0 Khrushchev never sang praises of America (after all, he was a communist), but he was deeply impressed by what he saw.\u00a0 He was impressed because what he saw was not<\/em> what he had been told \u2014 that America was as a \u201cstratified society\u201d with an oppressed working class on the brink of collapse.\u00a0 (Apparently, he had no self-awareness of oppression under communism.)\u00a0 He believed what he\u2019d been told, but seeing America firsthand forced his beliefs to change.\u00a0 He witnessed America\u2019s exceptionalism.<\/p>

Fast forward 67 years, to when hundreds of thousands of World Cup visitors are just as awed by America as was Khrushchev.\u00a0 Their social media postings are allowing the entire world to witness the real United States, exactly as it is \u2014 not the version long-portrayed by the leftist, Euro-America media (LEAM).\u00a0 The LEAM had convinced the world that the United States is a racist country, populated by foreigner-hating, gun-toting bigots who seek to destroy the planet, one gas-guzzling pickup at a time.\u00a0 Like Khrushchev, most of these tourists are visiting for the first time and can\u2019t believe what they\u2019re seeing.\u00a0 They are experiencing America\u2019s exceptionalism.\u00a0 They\u2019re loving on America more than our Dems (which isn\u2019t hard to do.)\u00a0 For that reason alone, I\u2019m loving the World Cup.<\/p>\n

Hopefully, you\u2019ve read some of the social media posts made by World Cup (WC) visitors.\u00a0 They are as enthusiastic about the United States as children on Christmas morning.\u00a0 They aren\u2019t praising our big cities and world-class museums; no, they\u2019re praising middle America, every day working-class Americans, and the America one finds in central Georgia and Alabama.\u00a0 Basically, they are pumped about the very things that our coastal elites find repulsive about the country.<\/p>\n

Perhaps the best example comes from \u201cFreddy,\u201d a German tourist road-tripping across the Southeast, stopping in small towns and posting about what he\u2019s discovering.\u00a0 His journey began in Atlanta where he said, \u201cAtlanta is so green it\u2019s crazy.\u00a0 It feels like you\u2019re in a forest the whole time.\u201d\u00a0 He called Taco Bell the \u201choly land.\u201d\u00a0 (Freddy, please don\u2019t confuse TB with Mexican or Tex-Mex food.)\u00a0 Freddy loves Walmart, was in awe of the sizes of homes in \u201ca town called Gainesville, [GA]\u201d and had a late-night Waffle House experience.\u00a0 \u201cJust had our first Waffle House experience at 1am.\u00a0 Great food, great prices, and friendly staff, 10\/10, we will be coming back.\u201d\u00a0 Then, he visited Helen, GA for the alpine roller coaster, tubing on the Chattahoochee, and Wendy\u2019s for burgers and unlimited soft drinks.<\/p>\n

Next, he went to Alabama and was so blown away at Jordan-Hare Stadium (home of the Auburn Tigers) that he called it the \u201ccraziest stadium I\u2019ve ever been to,\u201d where he took in a practice game between Iceland vs. Argentina.\u00a0 Of that game experience, he said, \u201cThis is the most \u2018The European mind can\u2019t comprehend this\u2019 moment of my life.\u201d\u00a0 And then Freddy went to Buc-ee\u2019s where he posted, \u201cDUDE LMAO THIS IS A GAS STATION.\u201d\u00a0 (In fairness to Freddy, almost every first-time Buc-ee\u2019s visitor is blown away with similar comments.)<\/p>\n

Other towns\/businesses\/individuals that Freddy commented on included Bass Pro (\u201cThey had a shooting range in the store.\u201d); Fairhope, AL (\u201cI could live here.\u201d); New Orleans and Bourbon Street (\u201cWhy are people throwing beads at each other everywhere?\u201d); the swamps of Louisiana; LSU Tigers training facilities; Houston, where J.J. Watts set he and his friends up in a swanky hotel with plenty of gifts; an Astros vs. Detroit baseball game; Houston\u2019s mayor; Houston police headquarters; NASA\u2019s Houston facilities; the WC game between Germany and Curacao; and Texas BBQ (brisket of course).\u00a0 He found every one of these experiences to be unique, positive, and couldn\u2019t say enough good about them or the people. It\u2019s not just Freddy; every WC visitor is having similar experiences and is raving about America, especially the warmth and friendliness of everyone they meet.\u00a0 Also, they are going absolutely googoo-gaga over the food \u2014 the portion sizes, biscuits and gravy, Chick-fil-A sauce (yes, the sauce), ranch dressing, Tex-Mex, barbecue, etc.\u00a0 (I think they\u2019re learning why average Americans are sooo large.)<\/p>\n
