The people who celebrate Pride month must believe they are making an important contribution to the culture. They have no idea that they are only annoying and saddening the majority of us who believe in the beauty and value of religious faith and family. They\u2019re creating a community that resents heterosexual norms, and they demonstrate just how out of touch they are with those of us who are not LGBTQ+, and how unlikely they are to elicit our support.<\/p>

But some state governors realize the implications of a society that elevates that LGBTQ+ community at the cost of denigrating religious faith. These governors recognize that our country was born out of a Judeo-Christian conviction, that we are created in the image of God, that we are all created equal, and that we especially honor the American family, which is foundational to our belief. Those beliefs make us strong and the country vibrant, as strong and healthy nuclear families are the bedrock of civilization.<\/p>\n

Thus, these conservative governors are taking a stand for the American family, faith, and everything it stands for.<\/p>\n

For one, Gov. Ron DeSantis issued a proclamation supporting Faith and Family Month in June, intending to strengthen relationships among husbands and wives, parents and children, and other familial relationships. Other governors have taken a position on family and fidelity:<\/p>\n

Indiana and Tennessee governors declared June as \u2018Nuclear Family Month\u2019 and stated clearly that the month celebrates families with one husband and one wife. Arkansas governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders declared\u00a0June as \u2018Fidelity Month,\u2019 posting a link to a Daily Wire article with the headline \u2018Another Red State Is Counter-Programming Pride Month.\u2019<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Critics of these proclamations question the appropriateness of making these statements in June, which is when Pride month is held. No organization, however, has exclusive rights to a particular month of celebration. No one has stated an intention of overriding, replacing, or condemning Pride month celebrations, and every citizen can decide which program speaks to them. In Alabama, it\u2019s Strong Families Month, intended to coincide with Father\u2019s Day. Gov. Kay Ivey\u2019s proclamation says fathers are \u2018the head of the household\u2019 and \u2018homes led by a father and mother provide children with the structure and discipline necessary to succeed throughout life.\u2019<\/p>\n

The governors of Utah and Arkansas deemed it Fidelity Month, which emphasizes fidelity to faith, country and family \u2014 without comment on how those families might be comprised.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Whether these declarations are a direct, frontal assault on Pride month is not clear. But we know how much abuse, denigration, criticism, and ridicule religions have had to withstand over the last several years. Instead of recognizing the role that religion plays in the stability and security of this nation, many people (including many from the LGBTQ+) accuse those of us who are heterosexual persons of faith as being hateful and backward. We also recognize that some members of the Pride community are promoting a lifestyle that many of us don\u2019t appreciate or agree with, yet they often feel justified in attacking us. What\u2019s worse, is they\u2019re often not content to keep it in their bedroom\u2014they force it into our churches and schools, demand we censor our beliefs to promote theirs, and come after children<\/em>.<\/p>\n

We are at a time in our country where we will likely not be able to walk back the steps that have been taken to permit the promotion of the Pride lifestyle. But we can at least take responsibility for speaking up for our history, our roots, and our faiths.<\/p>
